Description
Members of a notorious U.S. church that's been branded a hate group are coming to Winnipeg to protest at the funeral of Tim McLean Saturday.

We are calling on all Winnipeg Christians to join us at the Westwood Community Church 401 westwood drive Winnipeg , at 2:30 PM to stand around these protesters and pray for the family of Tim McLean , and show these people what true Christians do.

We can not let this happen in Canada , the Westboro Baptist Church will have 7 of it's members protesting.
We will surround the protesters and pray for them and the family of Tim McLean, and this will NOT be a violent protest and we will not respond to anything that members of the westboro church have to say.

- Representatives of the McLean family have stated that they do not want the funeral to become a scene of confrontation. Rather, they would prefer that those wishing to show support simply provide a "human wall" - surrounding the friends and family and shielding them from the Westboro group.

- This means NO SIGNS or banners or placards! Or any kind of discussion or confrontation with the Westboro group! Any attendees should plan to simply ignore the Westboros completely. If you do not think you will be able to keep your temper and avoid confrontation, then please consider staying at home.

- As well, the church is likely going to be packed so instead of trying to gain access, here's what we can and should do instead: Simply up and take up the key spaces around the church, essentially blocking off the Westboros from access to the family and the funeral attendees.

- Please plan to behave in an absolutely non-violent and non-confrontational manner, no matter what the provocation may be!

Gail Asper : Human Rights Hypocrite

So she wants taxpayers to foot the bill to build a Canadian Museum for Human Rights .

She thinks Human Rights is important.

Great , so do I.

But with control of a massive media empire , Gail Asper and other Aspers have done next to nothing to promote some of the human rights abuses going on around the world.
I don't see news stories on Global about the bad things Canada and the United States are doing to other people. I don't see stories about Israel's war crimes.
I don't see Global news , or the National post talking about the racist reserve system we have in Canada, and I don't see them talking about ending it.

Bottom line, Gail Asper is a hypocrite.

If she really cared, she'd build this place in the North end. Right in the hood, all the gang violence and poverty would be like a life-like museum display of what happened ( and is happening ) to first nation people.

I hope there are displays about Canada's role in world affairs, such as when we contributed to the Highway of Death or Canada ignoring atrocities around the world.

I have an idea. I want to find a large space in the north end, nothing fancy, that will talk about some of the human rights abuses going on that the media doesn't talk about. Much of it will talk about the stuff going on in our own country. It would talk about the lies taught in our schools, the lies in the media and the lies of our government and the United States government. It would have a large 9/11 section as well. And I won't use one penny of taxpayers money to do it. And I bet I can have it up and running before the Asper museum even gets the shovel in the ground. Anyone else on board ? dailyrants@mts.net

Do you work for INCO in Thompson ? Here is what your company is doing .

On January 8th and 9th 2007, hundreds of police and soldiers in Guatemala forcibly evicted the inhabitants of several communities who were living on lands that a Guatemalan military government had granted to Canadian mining company INCO in 1965. Local indigenous populations claim the land to be theirs, and resent the exploitation of an outside corporation. Canada's Skye Resources now lays claim to the land, and paid workers a nominal sum to destroy people's homes. With the force of the army and police, company workers took chainsaws and torches to people's homes, while women and children stood by. Skye Resources claims that they maintained "a peaceful atmosphere during this action." Watch the illegal evictions here, and decide for yourself..

Forgiveness

http://www.winnipegfreepress.com/breakingnews/story/4205138p-4797178c.html

The family of Andrew James have gone thru much heartache over the last few days. But Roberta and Rick James lifted a massive weight off their shoulders , when they forgave the owner of Interlake Asphalt Paving for the accident that claimed the life of their son.

Roberta and Rick James are a fine example of what we should all strive to do. I am not perfect. I hold more than a few grudges . There are a couple enemies out there , whose funerals I will attend just to make damn sure the guy is planted 6 feet under. But my life would be much better if I just stopped trying to be a big shot and forgave a few people. It's not easy.

Because Roberta and Rick James forgave , and the Free Press covered it , some good will come from this tragedy . They are a shining example for people who suffered a loss and how to deal with it. If God forbid , something bad happens to one of my loved ones , I will remember how Roberta and Rick forgave.

I have an aunt and uncle who lost a child due to a screw up in the health care system. Everyone was mad , and said "sue their asses off " .....but they didn't. They forgave the doctors and nurses , and that made it much easier for them.

There is a family in the news right now, that should consider forgiveness. They got a bum deal , no question. But they are not doing themselves any favors by being mad about it for the rest of their lives. But then again, I am not in their shoes.
